Kayu Putih City Forest on Jalan Pahlawan, District / Indramayu Regency, which had been neglected for quite some time, is now starting to be noticed. Indramayu Regency Government in collaboration with PT Polytama Propindo is ready to revitalize the urban forest.
The plan was revealed after the management of PT Polytama Propindo conducted an observation with the Regent of Indramayu, Supendi, and directly observed the city forest.
The Regent of Indramayu, Supendi, explained, the eucalyptus city forest was established in 2002 with the Decree of the Regent of Indramayu Number 522.1 / Kep.125A-Dishutbun / 2002. But along with changes in SOTK and authority on forestry, the authority over the urban forest was transferred to the West Java Provincial Government.
However, Indramayu Regency Government too the initiative to revitalize the city forest stood on a land owned by the regional government. The revitalization plan involves the West Java Provincial Government and the private sector, in this case PT Polytama Propindo.
"The existence of urban forests is very important for the people of Indramayu. Besides having the function of maintaining a microclimate, urban forests also have aesthetic value, absorb water and biodiversity, '' said Supendi.
Eucalyptus urban forest that currently has 2.5 hectares of land. Through revitalization, the urban forest is planned to be developed into four hectares, using the land behind it. In addition, in the urban forest will also be added to dozens of deer as a symbol of the historical characteristics of Indramayu Regency.
"We want the eucalyptus forest in the middle of the city to become a new area of education and tourism for the community," Supendi said.
Meanwhile, General Manager of HR and Corporate Affairs of PT Polytama Propindo, Dwinanto Kurniawan, said that his party was interested in developing eucalyptus urban forest located in the center of Indramayu city. Because the plastic ore producing company wants to be an important and inseparable part of the people of Indramayu Regency.
"We will assist in creating the concept. We want this urban forest to become more beautiful and useful for the community, '' said Dwinanto.
