Indramayu, June 10, 2025 – PT Polytama Propindo (Polytama) continues to demonstrate its commitment to accelerating strategic company projects by strengthening its collaboration with Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (IIF). On June 10, 2025, the IIF management team conducted a working visit to Polytama’s project site in Indramayu to review the progress of the jetty construction, pipeline network, and Propylene Tank facilities owned by PT Polytama Propindo. The visit is part of an ongoing monitoring effort following IIF’s project financing of USD 38.55 million disbursed to Polytama in December 2024.
The Jetty & Propylene Tank are expected to enhance Polytama’s polypropylene supply chain and further solidify its position in the petrochemical industry. The Polypropylene Balongan Plant (PPB) project is receiving full support from PT Pertamina (Persero) through the integrated supply of Propylene (C3) as feedstock. Additional backing is provided by PT Tuban Petrochemical Industries (TubanPetro), Polytama’s sole shareholder.
“The jetty project is not merely supporting infrastructure—it is a critical component of the broader development of the Polypropylene Balongan Plant (PPB) project. Currently, the PPB project is in the final phase of contractor selection,” said Joko Pranoto, President Director of Polytama.
The construction of the new jetty and propylene storage tank aims to increase the storage capacity of Propylene feedstock by 3,000 tons and enable marine deliveries from cargo ships ranging from 3,500 tons (approx. 4,970 DWT) to 10,000 tons (approx. 17,400 DWT). The jetty facility is equipped with a Marine Loading Arm and a pipeline system extending approximately 1 km to the onshore Propylene Tank.
Construction of the facility began in September 2024, and as of now, progress has reached 27.1%, with completion targeted for Q2 2026.
The PPB project is a strategic initiative for Polytama, as a significant portion—around 62%—of domestic polypropylene demand is currently met through imports. This presents both a challenge and a strategic opportunity for Polytama to strengthen Indonesia’s petrochemical industry and reduce dependency on imported products. Through PPB, the goal is to foster greater self-sufficiency in the national petrochemical sector.
“Developing PPB is not just a business opportunity—it’s part of our national responsibility to support downstream petrochemical development and reduce reliance on imported products,” Joko added.
The IIF management team present at the visit included IIF President Commissioner Darmin Nasution, IIF President Director Rizki Pribadi Hasan, and other board members, who reviewed the progress of the 3,000-ton jetty, pipeline, and propylene tank facilities being developed at the Polytama plant site.
IIF emphasized that its involvement in this project goes beyond financial support—it reflects a strategic mission to accelerate the growth of high value-added manufacturing sectors, particularly downstream industries.
“Our support for the PPB project aligns with our mandate to strengthen the national industrial structure through sustainable and impactful infrastructure financing. We appreciate Polytama’s efforts in building an integrated and efficient industrial ecosystem,” said Rizki.
Polytama Director Uray Azhari also expressed hope for continued synergy with IIF in the future. “Our collaboration with IIF not only benefits Polytama but also contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesia’s petrochemical industry as a whole,” he said.
As part of the visit, a symbolic tree-planting ceremony was held in the green area of the Polytama plant complex, representing a shared commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The event marked a significant moment of synergy—not only in physical infrastructure development, but also in shared social and ecological values.
During the discussion session, Polytama also shared its perspective on plastic management issues in Indonesia. As a polypropylene resin producer, Polytama emphasized the importance of responsible plastic use and waste management.
Polytama reiterated its commitment to public education efforts that raise awareness about environmentally friendly plastic types, especially plastic code 5 (PP), which is recommended for food packaging due to its non-toxic properties. The company continues its outreach to promote a safer and more sustainable plastic consumption cycle.
In line with its environmental sustainability commitment, Polytama actively promotes responsible usage and post-consumption management of plastics.
