Protecting the Ocean and Coast, Polytama Promotes the Spirit of Sustainable OHS

  • February 11, 2026

Indramayu, February 11 – Environmental issues remain a concern for many stakeholders, considering their broad impact on environmental quality and public health. Waste that is not properly managed, particularly in coastal areas, has the potential to damage marine ecosystems and disrupt ecological balance.

These conditions call for collective action involving various stakeholders, including businesses, government, and communities. Collaboration across sectors is key to creating sustainable environmental management.

As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, PT Polytama Propindo, a leading polypropylene producer in Indonesia, organized a beach clean-up activity in Balongan District. This initiative represents the company’s concrete effort to support environmental preservation while strengthening its commitment to sustainability.

Through this initiative, Polytama also seeks to strengthen the culture of environmental awareness among employees. The activity aligns with the spirit of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), where maintaining environmental cleanliness is an integral part of creating a safe and healthy workplace.

In addition to being part of the National OHS Month 2026, this activity also serves as a tangible form of the company’s contribution to preserving coastal ecosystems. A clean and healthy environment not only supports business operations but also has a positive impact on surrounding communities.

During the activity, participants actively collected waste along the coastline and sorted it based on its type and condition. The collected waste was then processed further to ensure proper and environmentally friendly handling.

The activity also involved collaboration with local stakeholders, including government agencies and local communities, to ensure that the efforts align with existing environmental regulations. This collaboration is expected to strengthen synergy in maintaining environmental sustainability in coastal areas.

Polytama’s HSSE Manager, Affaella, emphasized that this initiative not only contributes to environmental cleanliness but also plays a strategic role in supporting sustainable business practices. “Environmental cleanliness is an essential part of workplace safety. A clean environment creates a healthier, safer, and more productive workspace,” she stated.

Beach clean-up activities are also expected to serve as an educational platform to raise awareness and encourage environmentally responsible behavior. Through this initiative, Polytama aims to foster a culture of care, including awareness of safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable practices.

In line with its sustainability commitment, Polytama continues to encourage active participation from all stakeholders, including employees and local communities, in maintaining coastal cleanliness. This initiative is expected to inspire broader collective action in preserving the environment.
