Indramayu, April 11, 2025 – The Commission IV of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Indramayu Regency conducted a working visit to PT Polytama Propindo (Polytama), one of Indonesia’s leading petrochemical companies specializing in polypropylene (PP) resin production. The visit aimed to observe Polytama’s operational activities firsthand and to explore the company’s contribution to regional economic development and community welfare in Indramayu.
The Chair of DPRD Commission IV, Ibnu Rismansyah, expressed his appreciation for Polytama, particularly regarding the company’s strategic plan to expand its land area to construct a second plant. This expansion project is expected to position Polytama as the largest polypropylene producer in Indonesia.
“Polytama is expanding its site for the development of a new plant. This initiative will bring even greater economic benefits to Indramayu, such as increased employment opportunities and broader economic impact,” said Ibnu Rismansyah.
He noted that Polytama has significantly contributed to Indramayu since its establishment in 1995, across economic, social, and environmental sectors. Polytama has consistently supported the development of local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), whose products are now competitive in national markets thanks to improved quality and packaging.
In addition to its economic impact, Commission IV also praised Polytama’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Polytama has successfully maintained its Gold PROPER Award, an environmental performance rating by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment, for five consecutive periods, demonstrating its consistency in environmental stewardship. Ibnu also acknowledged the company’s extensive green open spaces, which further contribute positively to the surrounding environment.
Joko Pranoto, President Director of Polytama, emphasized that the DPRD visit reflects the strong synergy between the industry and local government in achieving sustainable economic development. He expressed hope that this collaboration would continue to strengthen, allowing the benefits of the company’s expansion to reach more people.
“This visit proves that effective communication between the industrial sector and local government can be well-established, transparent, and mutually supportive,” Joko stated.
During the visit, DPRD representatives also toured Polytama’s production facilities and the designated site for the new Polypropylene Plant Balongan (PPB) project. Ibnu conveyed his optimism that Polytama’s investment would bring greater positive impacts, including increased local employment and accelerated regional economic growth in Indramayu.
Dwinanto Kurniawan, Director of Polytama, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to involving local labor and building strong relationships with surrounding communities. He added that Polytama would continue supporting regional economic development while ensuring that the local population benefits directly from each investment made.
“This includes empowering local communities through our corporate social and environmental responsibility programs,” Dwinanto added.
Previously, Bank Indonesia also recognized Polytama as one of the key economic catalysts in the Indramayu region. The company’s investments are regarded as having a tangible impact on society and have helped reinforce Indramayu’s position as a strategic industrial hub in West Java. Bank Indonesia also praised Polytama’s role in creating new job opportunities, enhancing the skills of local workers, and advancing the region’s supporting industries.
