Indramayu, February 23, 2024 – Insan Polytama at the Plant Site participated in their monthly activity, Jumat Bersih or ‘Jumsih,’ which involved cleaning the area around the beach behind the Polytama Plant Site in Juntinyuat, Indramayu. More than 150 Polytama employees at the Plant Site took part in this activity, collecting 25 bags of garbage, weighing a total of one tonne. Most of the garbage collected was plastic waste.
As a plastic seed producing company, Polytama is highly aware of its role in waste management, particularly in managing plastic waste to prevent it from accumulating and becoming a pollutant. Recognizing this responsibility, Polytama has collaborated with the Indramayu Regency Environmental Agency (DLH) and Pecuk Temporary Shelter (TPS), Indramayu, to organize a Beach Jumsih event in celebration of HPSN 2024. This collaboration underscores the importance of synergy between all levels of society in addressing plastic waste management.
Jumsih is a program initiated by Polytama’s Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Department to foster synergy and active participation in the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness, starting from the company’s surroundings environment, with Insan Polytama. Through Jumsih, Polytama supports the implementation of the 5R concept, which stands for ‘Ringkas, Rapi, Resik, Rawat, and Rajin’, in the work environment. The routine conduct of this Jumsih activity also purposes to cultivate a work culture that prioritizes efficiency and productivity in the work atmosphere
Through this Jumsih activity, participants have the opportunity to directly witness the consequences of the lack of waste management in the environment. By seeing for themselves, it is hoped that it can build awareness of the urgency of keeping the environment clean and the importance of managing waste wisely and sustainably. The negative impacts of unmanaged waste on the environment are expected to increase awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and managing waste wisely and sustainably.
