Further solidifying its business, PT Polytama Propindo (Polytama), a leading producer of polypropylene (PP) in Indonesia, is reinforcing its downstream strategy in the petrochemical sector by expanding its polypropylene production capacity through the Polypropylene Plant Balongan (PPB) Project. This initiative will double Polytama’s current capacity to 600 KTA. The EPCC Jetty & Spherical Tank infrastructure serves as a key support system for the PPB project. Equipment testing for piling was conducted to assess pile compressive and tensile strength, validating the results of the initial soil investigation.
The realization of the Jetty & Spherical Tank infrastructure as part of the PPB project will strengthen Polytama’s position in supporting Pertamina’s downstream strategy in the petrochemical sector. Additionally, it will enhance Polytama’s contribution to the domestic petrochemical industry’s development by integrating operations with PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI) Balikpapan and PT KPI Cilacap.
The government’s support remains crucial in building resilience within the petrochemical industry, particularly in meeting domestic PP needs. Polytama’s PP product, marketed under the brand Masplene®️, stands out for its superior quality, wide application in industrial and consumer sectors, and recyclability. These strengths drive the sustainable growth of PP demand in the market.
As part of the Jetty & Spherical Tank project milestones, a prayer ceremony for the equipment testing phase was held on December 23, 2024.
Present at the event were Polytama’s Operations Director, Syawaludin Azwar, and Project Manager of PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk., Dicky RM Tampubolon. PT Adhi Karya has been entrusted by Polytama as the EPCC contractor for the Jetty & Propylene Storage Tank for the PPB project.
In his remarks, Syawaludin emphasized the importance of collaboration for project success. “Alhamdulillah, today marks an important moment as we hold a prayer ceremony for the piling equipment testing for the EPCC Jetty & Spherical Tank. For the smooth execution of this project, we hope Polytama and Adhi Karya can synergize fully to ensure the work is completed within the stipulated timeline.”
Dicky added, “The commitment to completing the Jetty project is set within a 20-month timeframe, with the milestone of mechanical completion targeted by the 18th month (effective as of October 1, 2024). All works must be completed and operational by this 18th month milestone. Adhi Karya is committed to ensuring this target is met for both onshore (spherical tank) and offshore (jetty) components.”
This project represents a significant step forward in Polytama’s efforts to strengthen its position as one of Indonesia’s largest PP resin producers, meeting the growing domestic demand and advancing the country’s petrochemical industry.
