Yogyakarta, April 24, 2025 – PT Polytama Propindo (Polytama) reaffirms its position as one of the key pillars in strengthening Indonesia’s petrochemical industry through the development of the Polypropylene Plant Balongan (PPB) project in Indramayu. To ensure a reliable energy supply for this strategic project, Polytama has entered into a strategic partnership with PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) to provide infrastructure and natural gas supply through 2029.
The signing ceremony took place in Yogyakarta on April 24, 2025, officiated by Mr. Joko Pranoto, President Director of Polytama, and Mr. Gamal Imam Santoso, President Director of Pertagas, and witnessed by Mr. Indri Pramantyo, Director of Strategy and Business Development of Pertagas, and Mr. Uray Azhari, Finance Director of Polytama.
Both parties agreed to establish a long-term synergy to support the continuity of Polytama’s ongoing production capacity expansion project. Polytama is currently developing a new plant with an additional production capacity of 300,000 tons per year, which will increase its total polypropylene production capacity to 600,000 tons per year.
This signing also represents a tangible manifestation of the growing synergy between Polytama and Pertagas in advancing Indonesia’s petrochemical industry.
“We welcome this collaboration and hope that the synergy between Polytama and Pertagas will continue not only within this project but also in future initiatives,” stated Mr. Joko Pranoto.
He further emphasized that the PPB Project marks a significant milestone in Polytama’s nearly 30-year journey, serving as a concrete contribution toward import substitution and the strengthening of Indonesia’s domestic petrochemical industry structure.
With Pertagas’ support, the project is assured of a stable annual natural gas supply of 275,940 MMBtu through the end of 2029. In addition, Pertagas will operate and maintain the infrastructure to ensure long-term system reliability.
Through the synergy between both companies, the partnership is expected to contribute to the government’s long-term goals, including expanding the petrochemical value chain and creating a multiplier effect across various industrial sectors reliant on petrochemical products.
