Indramayu, May 15, 2025 – PT Polytama Propindo (Polytama) welcomed an official visit from the Regent of Indramayu, Mr. Lucky Hakim, to the company’s production facility in Balongan, Indramayu Regency. The visit marked a strategic synergy between the local government and the industrial sector in driving sustainable development and empowering the local economy.
The Regent reaffirmed his full support for the Polypropylene Plant Balongan (PPB) project and the planned jetty construction. This visit served as a significant moment to highlight the vital role of Polytama as one of the key pillars of the petrochemical industry in Indramayu. Operating since 1995, Polytama has been a major catalyst in developing the Balongan industrial area, positioning Indramayu as a strategic hub within the national petrochemical supply chain.
During the meeting, Polytama’s management presented the company’s key strategic initiatives, including its production capacity expansion project and ongoing social responsibility programs. This reflects Polytama’s role not only as an industrial player, but also as a development partner for the Indramayu region.
This strategic expansion is further strengthened by financial support from national banking institutions, ensuring the project stays on schedule and delivers significant benefits to the regional economy, while also enhancing the domestic petrochemical supply chain.
Polytama has also established a strategic partnership with PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) to secure a long-term natural gas supply, which is essential to the continuity of the expansion project.
Joko Pranoto, President Director of PT Polytama Propindo, stated that the expansion phase begins with the construction of a new jetty to support smooth operations, followed by the development of a second plant (PPB). These facilities are designed to enhance national production capacity and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global petrochemical supply chain.
“These expansion steps are not merely to strengthen our business position but also to reflect Polytama’s strong commitment to long-term collaboration that creates tangible benefits for the local economy,” Joko emphasized.
He also added that the expansion project not only represents Polytama’s business growth, but also holds significant potential to advance national industry and boost the regional economy. The new plant is expected to enhance the resilience of Indonesia’s petrochemical industry by ensuring a stronger supply of high-quality plastic raw materials needed by various sectors.
Polytama’s presence is a blessing for the people of Indramayu. I hope to see stronger synergy between the company and the government, especially through local employment and impactful social programs,” said Regent Lucky.
The expansion not only reinforces the foundation of the national petrochemical industry, but also has the potential to generate a ripple effect on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), logistics service providers, and supporting sectors in Indramayu and surrounding areas.
“This production capacity expansion is a concrete commitment from Polytama to support the government’s strategic agenda in strengthening the domestic downstream industry, generating a multiplier effect in the region, and maintaining national competitiveness,” added Joko.
Polytama also actively runs various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that directly benefit the community. Its CSR efforts span education, environmental initiatives, and local economic development, all carried out through a participatory and community-based approach.
One standout program that gained attention during the visit was the biodigester initiative at the culinary area along the Cimanuk River (Tjimanoek). This technology enables the conversion of organic waste into methane gas, which is then used by local vendors as an alternative energy source for cooking—replacing conventional gas.
Polytama Director Dwinanto Kurniawan explained, “We want to ensure that waste management can become a sustainable solution with economic value. The vendors in the Tjimanoek culinary area have already experienced the benefits of this biodigester technology firsthand.”
The Regent of Indramayu expressed appreciation for Polytama’s active role in driving both economic and social progress in the region. He noted that the company’s CSR programs are not only creative but also genuinely address community needs. This, he said, is a true example of how the industrial sector can contribute to sustainable development in Indramayu.
“We fully support Polytama’s commitment to expanding its industrial capacity while remaining aligned with the needs of the local community. The empowerment programs being implemented are highly relevant and must be fostered in harmony with our mission to achieve inclusive and equitable regional development,” said Regent Lucky Hakim.
The visit further strengthened the shared resolve of both parties to transform Indramayu into an advanced and inclusive petrochemical industrial region. The event concluded with a joint commitment to deepen collaboration between Polytama Propindo and the Indramayu Regency Government, with a focus on education, environmental protection, human resource development, and community-based economic empowerment.
