Sekolah HIjau, Sehat dan Bersih, abbreviated as SEHATI, is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program by PT Polytama Propindo focusing on environmental and educational initiatives to enhance capacity and awareness of environmental care in schools. In the year 2023, PT Polytama Propindo organized the SEHATI Ambassador Competition involving participants from 6 schools in Lombang Village and Margadadi Subdistrict. The competition required schools to create innovations in environmental management aligned with SEHATI values.
The program implementation has seen significant progress, with 26 SEHATI Ambassadors emerging to lead and promote a culture of environmental care. Additionally, six innovations related to environmental management in schools have been introduced.
Based on the assessment results of the SEHATI Ambassador Competition in 2023, the winners of the Green, Healthy, and Clean School (SEHATI) Appreciation are as follows:
- The 1st place was awarded to UPTD SD Negeri 4 Margadadi with the theme “Waste Management Innovation.” SD N 4 Margadadi uniquely manages organic waste not only using composters but also employs biopores to maximize the plant fertilization process. Furthermore, they have developed new technology for automatic plant watering, enhancing water usage efficiency.
- The 2nd place was won by UPTD SD Negeri 3 Lombang with the theme “Zero Waste Management.” SD Negeri 3 Lombang demonstrated consistency and collaboration among teachers and students in implementing SEHATI innovations. The school has also developed derivative products such as herbal powder drinks, vegetable puddings, and various crafts from processed plastic waste.
- The 3rd place was secured by UPTD SD Negeri 1 Lombang with the theme “Utilization of Organic and Non-Organic Waste – Planting Vegetables and Handicraft Making.” The enthusiasm of teachers and students at SD N 1 Lombang goes beyond developing SEHATI innovations within the school, serving as a positive example and influence on the surrounding community.
After the implementation of the SEHATI program, 28.58 tons of waste have been managed through education and mentoring in waste management at schools. The SEHATI initiative has made 3,780 school residents beneficiaries of waste management, transforming organic waste into compost and operating a greenhouse to produce various organic vegetables and derivative products, creating a circular economy within the school community.
In terms of inorganic waste management, especially plastic waste, SEHATI students and teachers have processed plastic waste into eco-bricks and plant pots. The eco-bricks, created independently by students and teachers, have been utilized within the school environment as tables, chairs, and garden dividers. These achievements demonstrate that responsible plastic usage can prevent plastic waste generation, addressing pollution caused by plastic products. As part of preventing plastic waste generation, teachers also educate students to reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles and switch to reusable PP plastic bottles.
